COVID-19: Situation under control at SDH Sopore, referrals very less

‘Only 8 deaths reported in hospital this month’

Sopore : With the Coronavirus situation coming under control across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir gradually, the authorities in north Kashmir’s Sopore Sub District Hospital have ensured sufficient oxygen and patient care with a significant improvement in positivity of cases.

Talking to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Dr. Shahid Nabi Nodal Officer for COVID-19 said that a total of 41 Covid-19 positive patients are undergoing treatment at Sub District Hospital Sopore while only eight patients have died due to the virus this month.

He said that of the total 41 patients admitted to the hospital, 20 are on high flow oxygen support while 21 are on low flow oxygen support.

Dr. Shahid said that the Intense Care Unit (ICU) is not functional at the hospital and not a single ventilator among the available six is either underuse or operational.

He informed that around 20 Covid positive patients have been referred from SDH for advanced treatment in the ongoing month alone.

Another official at the facility said that recently a 1000 Liters Per Minute (LPM) oxygen generation plant was inaugurated besides a bulk oxygen cylinder and concentrators are available to ensure sufficient oxygen to all the patients.

He also said that the referrals have started to come down comparatively in recent days after more patients started to recover within the time.

Notably, the entire Baramulla district has reported a total of 19955 COVID-19 cases and 243 deaths while 16889 have recovered so far besides it reported a total of 103 cases on Monday—(KNO)
