SRINAGAR: A day after New Delhi asks Jammu and Kashmir government to stop “unauthorized” broadcast of Pakistan and Saudi Arabian Channels in the state, there are reports that the same ‘dictat’ has been implemented in this trouble region.
The netizens react to the government decision and vent their anger on social media networking site. “There is something wrong with my T.V remote. The list of TV channels appearing on my TV screen seems have been edited and some windows closed,” Shahnawaz Taing, wrote on his facebook post,
Taing reacting to a comment by one of his friend wrote: “What authorised and unauthorised?
We do not like authorised Rahul and Goswami channels.”
Syed Niaz Ahmed Shah, another social media user wrote: “They call themselves democratic country and if they use such orders goes to show they have lost the battle and now only they are by force occupiers.”
The Channels are blamed for airing provocative and anit-India content to vitiate the peaceful atmosphere in the state.
Many people in the valley reacted it sharply by saying that the government can’t forces them to watch the only content which suits government.
People said in a democratic setup and that too at a time of global village concept, it is shameful for policy makers to ban these Channels.
Information and Broadcasting Minister M Venkaiah Naidu has sought a compliance report from the Jammu and Kashmir government on the issue, reports India Today.
The ministry said that these channels are aired by private cable networks in Kashmir without necessary clearances from government.
Besides Naik’s Peace TV Urdu and English channels, private operators air Saudi and Pakistani channels like Saudi Sunnah, Saudi Quran, Al Arabia, Paigham, Hidayat, Noor, Madani, Sehar, Karbala, Hadi, Sehar, Ary QTV , Bethat, Ahlibat, Message, Falak, Geo News, Ary News, Dawn News, and many others, which cannot be accessed through satellite television service providers, ANI reported.
