Meet Faizan, Kashmir’s first ‘Deaf-Mute’ to accomplish BCA

SRINAGAR: A 24 year old Faizan Fayaz was born as a normal child, but in the very first year of his life due to some medical complications his sense of hearing and speech were affected which changed his life drastically for ever.
His family told Kashmir Patriot that this unfortunate event changed his life completely but it did not deter his flame to stud or keeping his head up with the time. Recently Faizan became first deaf-mute boy from Kashmir valley to accomplish his Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) from Lovely Professional University Punjab.
He hails from Kanlibagh area of Baramulla district in North Kashmir. His parents ran pillar to post and make difficult things possible for Faizan which make him now an inspiration for youth.
Faizan became first deaf-mute boy from Kashmir valley to accomplish his Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) from Lovely Professional University Punjab. He hails from Kanlibagh area of Baramulla district in North Kashmir.
Narrating the journey of Faizan, his parents said, “Faizan was first admitted to Government Modern High School, Solina in Srinagar where  separate classes are held for specially abled students, for the primary classes till upper kindergarten. Then Saint Joseph’s Higher secondary school came up with a special section by the name of “Jeevan Jyoti”, where Faizan studied till he cleared his middle school”.
With no further means left after the middle school because of non-availability of special schools in Kashmir, Faizan was left with no choice as to join Government Boys Higher secondary School in Baramulla, where he completed his high schooling with flying colors, competing with other abled students.
Being a very hard and demanding affair for Faizan, he and his parents never backed down and were always head up facing every problem and cruising his way forward. Despite every odd, his parents make ways for Faizan to make him abled person in life despite being specially challenged children.
Talking about the challenges faced by Faizan’s parents, they said, ” To avoid further inconvenience due to non-availability of specially abled schools in the state, Faizan had to move out of state for further studies. He got admitted in Speaking Hands Institute of Deaf & Dumb, Rajpora, Patiala Punjab, from where he completed his senior secondary schooling under National Institute of open schooling in Punjab”.
Faizan also completed his One-year diploma after his schooling in Computer Application, under All India ITI Association Patiala. Faizan, after his diploma Faizan Joined Lovely Professional university, Punjab in a collaboration with Speaking Hands Institute, for his Bachelor’s Degree In Computer Applications.
Finally, in January Faizan became the first Deaf and Mute student to complete his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Applications. As per his parents, now he is looking forward to join the same institutes for his Masters degree in computer Applications in near future.
Apart from his Studies, Faizan has been highly active in Sports and e-sport event and has represented State and his institution on different platforms. “During all these years of career, Faizan was never given any support from any government Institute except for One year scholarship from Department of Welfare”, his parents told Kashmir Patriot.
His family request Government to open Institutes for specially abled students so that everyone is given a chance to prove his ability on the right platform adding that this is also to keep-up the morale of specially abled children.
