Jammu: At a time when the government has started an advertising campaign to allay the apprehensions of people of Jammu and Kashmir over new land laws, stray protests are being reported in Jammu.
Sources told that Dogra leader Bhanu Pratap Singh Goria led a protest under the banner of ‘Dogra Youth’ in Jammu and demanded no new land laws should be implemented in Jammu and Kashmir as these laws according to him will have negative ramifications on the people of the erstwhile State.
Bhanu Partap Singh Goria said that Dogra Ruler Maharaja Hari Singh had enacted State Subject laws in Jammu and Kashmir, so as to give protection to the poor farmers of the State from being robbed of their lands by powerful land mafia and rich non-state subjects.
He added that Jammu would be the prime victim of this law and the culture and identity of Dogras will be eliminated.
Pertinently, the new land laws allow every non-state subject rather any Indian to buy land in Jammu and Kashmir.
Bhanu said that government should not test the patience of peace-loving citizens of Jammu and Kashmir by snatching their land and jobs. He added that the BJP had promised to safeguard the land and jobs of the people of Jammu and Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370 in August last year. “Any law which doesn’t safeguard the interest and rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir would be unacceptable,” he said.
