Srinagar: Terming the new land laws issued by the Center unacceptable, uncalled for and unjustified, Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Vice-President and former MLC G N Monga today said they will oppose such moves tooth and nail.
In a statement issued to press from here, he said since last year the BJP Government in New Delhi is issuing orders at frequent intervals and psychologically torturing people of J&K further.
“What government of India wants to convey to the people of J&K by issuing such laws? They want to dis-empower the people of Jammu and Kashmir fully. The BJP government at the Center has been humiliating and subjugating people of J&K and Congress will fight against these moves tooth and nail,” Monga asserted.
“Issuing order after order will not change the reality on the ground. The reality as it stares at us is that people have not accepted the decisions of August 5, 2019,” he added.
The Congress leader said the latest decision has triggered vehement criticism from residents of Jammu and Kashmir, who see the new laws, as a bid to tweak the demography of the region.
He asked the BJP government to wait till the outcome of petitions challenging revocation of Article 370 in the Supreme Court before issuing new laws. “When the matter is already sub-judice, how is the BJP government issuing new orders, notifications and laws over the subject,” Monga asked.
