04 foreign, 13 militants in total killed in October, two captured alive: IG Kashmir

Srinagar: Inspector General of Police Kashmir range Vijay Kumar on Saturday said that thirteen militants were so far killed in the October in different encounters, which include for foreign militants, among them a top ranking Lashkar commander Saifullah.

“Also two militants were caught alive in two operations over the last fifteen days,” Vijay Kumar was quoted as having said by news agency Kashmir Dot Com-(KDC).

“A total number of thirteen militants were killed so far, during the current month which includes four foreign militants,” he said.

He said, “Among the four slain foreign militants, was a top commander of Lashkar Saifullah, who was killed in an encounter in Srinagar earlier this week”.

He said that apart from killing thirteen militants, government forces succeeded in apprehending two militants alive during the current month, adding that a Lashkar module was busted in Srinagar and six militant associates were arrested, involved in assisting militants to carry out attacks on government forces.

Referring to recent encounter, which occurred in Old Barzallah area of Srinagar, in which Top commander of Lashkar e Toiba Saifullah was killed along with his local associate, Vijay Kumar said, “Our main focus will remain on operations against the foreign militants in future days”. (KDC)
