Srinagar : Parents Association of Private Schools Kashmir Thursday staged a protest here in Srinagar demanding 50% waiver in Tuition Fee.
The Parents from various Private Schools who assembled at Press Enclave Srinagar also demanded the implementation of recommendations of FFC (Fee Fixation Committee). The protesting parents also demanded that RTE act to be implemented immediately in Jammu and Kashmir.
President, Parents Association said,” lot of schools have hiked the tuition fee and are demanding the bus fee and annual charges as well. Parents are being coerced into paying hiked tuition fee, bus fee and annual fee in spite of clear cut orders by the concerned department”.
He said that online classes have been stopped to a lot of students whose parents have not been able to pay the school fee in view of the devastating financial crunch. In the absence of RTE act Private Schools are taking admission fee even after the orders issued by the concerned department and no action has been taken against such schools.
“Fee Fixation Committee is still headless which is increasing the burden of parents. Fee has not been fixed to most of the schools of J&K and schools are charging the fee at their will.”
The protesting parents also requested the Private Schools to understand the problems of people. They asked these schools to stop harassing poor parents. (KNT)
