Srinagar : Scores of aspirants, who appeared in the examination for recruitment in Fire and Emergency Services, staged a protest on Monday at Press Enclave in Srinagar against the department for failing to conduct exams “transparently.”

According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the protesting candidates alleged that the department released the selection list wherein deserving candidates have been “deliberately” left out.

“We demand justice as the department deliberately issued the list on Saturday because there were discrepancies in the selection list. They have left out the deserving candidates while candidates who have qualifications of up to 8th or 10th standard have topped the exams,” Shamim Ahmad Wani, a protesting aspirant from Budgam said.

He alleged that the department had already leaked the question paper and that is the reason the candidates who have qualifications up to 10th standard only have qualified the exam.

“Those candidates who have PhD and M.sc degrees had attempted around 70-80 questions out of the total 100, still they have been left out and the candidates with 10th qualification have scored more than 90 points in the exam. This is totally unfair and injustice with the deserving candidates,” the protesting aspirants alleged.

Meanwhile, they appealed to the Lieutenant Governor to personally intervene in this matter so that justice is done with the deserving candidates.

Despite repeated attempts, Deputy Director F&ES, Bashir Ahmad could not be contacted for the comments as he didn’t receive repeated phone calls—(KNO)
