COVID-19: 14 deaths, 824 more test positive in J&K

Total cases 73,014, Death toll reaches 1,146 deaths; 1,408 more recover in UT

Srinagar: Fourteen people died of the deadly novel coronavirus in J&K on Monday while 824 fresh cases tested positive for the dreaded virus, taking the total number of positive cases in the UT to 73014.

Of the total 73,014 cases, 44,951 are from Kashmir and 28,063 from Jammu division. Officials told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that among 824 new cases, 284 belong to Kashmir division while as 540 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 44,951 including 36,685 recoveries and 826 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 28,063 including 17,582 recoveries and 320 deaths.

The officials said that total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 17,601 including 7,440 from Kashmir division and 10,161 from Jammu division.

With 1,408 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 54,267 which is 74.32 percent of the total cases.

“Cases tested positive in J&K include 105 from Srinagar, 27 from Budgam, 26 from Baramulla, 33 from Pulwama, 18 from Anantnag, 09 from Bandipora, 44 from Kupwara, 13 from Ganderbal, 01 from Kulgam and 08 from Shopian in Kashmir division while as 540 from Jammu division include 337 from Jammu, 52 from Rajouri, 38 from Udhampur, 37 from Kathua, 11 from Doda, 29 from Samba, 10 from Poonch, 01 from Ramban, 14 from Reasi and 11 from Kishtiwar,” officials disclosed.

Notably, in the last 24 hours, 14 persons who were tested positive for COVID-19 have died which include 03 from Kashmir division and 11 from Jammu division.

As per media bulletin, patients who have died include one each from Pulwama, Bandipora and Shopian in Kashmir division while as 11 from Jammu division include seven from Jammu district, one from Udhampur, Doda, Samba and Ramban.

As per officials figures, 14,490 positive cases including 287 deaths and 12,098  recoveries are from Srinagar, 4,791 including 81 deaths and 3,665 recoveries are from Budgam, 4,273 including 2,916 recoveries and 122 deaths are from Baramulla, 3,885 including 3,366 recoveries and 68 deaths are from Pulwama, 3,492 including 62 deaths and 2,989 recoveries are from Anantnag, 3,363 including 2,763 recoveries and 37 deaths are from Bandipora, 3,539 cases including 2,660 and 66 deaths are from Kupwara, 2,844 including 2,357 recoveries and 28 deaths are from Ganderbal, 2,253 including 2,080 recoveries and 43 deaths are from Kulgam and 2,021 including 1,791 recoveries and 32 deaths are from Shopian.

In Jammu division, 12,349 including 8,597 recoveries and 174 deaths are from Jammu district, 2,565 including 1,267 recoveries and 30 deaths are from Rajouri, 2,163 including 1,664 recoveries and 15 deaths are from Udhampur, 2,022 including 1,463 recoveries and 21 deaths are from Kathua, 2,159 including 1,013 recoveries and 27 deaths are from Doda, 1,694 including 869 recoveries and 20 deaths are from Samba, 1,726 including 740 recoveries and 12 deaths are from Poonch, 1,295 including  830 recoveries and 09 deaths are from Ramban, 930 including 546 recoveries and 05 deaths are from Reasi and 1,160 including 593 recoveries and 07 deaths are from Kishtwar.

As per the daily information bulletin, 570,333 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 15,721 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 17,601 persons are in isolation.

According to the bulletin, 484,492 persons have completed surveillance period and 51,373 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 1,581,606 samples are available.

Out of 1,581,606 the number of samples tested negative stands at 1,508,592 while 73,014 have tested positive, among them 17,601 are active, 54,267 persons have recovered and 1,146 persons have died—(KNO)
