Srinagar: Locals from Khonmou area of Srinagar outskirts are aghast over non- availability of medical staff and closure of Health Centre during night hours.
Locals told Kashmir News Trust that only one doctor remains available for people from 10 to 4 pm and after that it remains shut much to the sufferings of the people.
“Three months ago this Health Centre offered services 24×7 and there was an ambulance that ferried critical patients to Srinagar hospitals. Now there is no ambulance and no doctor remains available round the clock,” said a local Muzaffar Ahmed.
He said a critical patient identified as Muhammad Sidiq Gojri died today as he was unable to reach Srinagar hospital in absence of an ambulance.
The Health Centre has no manpower to tackle the rush of patients as only a doctor and a sweeper remain present at the center during the day.
The locals said this Health Centre caters the patients from areas like Khonmou, Zewan, Zorwar, Chek, Sangri and others.
“The patients are facing immense hardships due to lack and are being compelled to visit other hospitals,” they said and sought intervention of higher authorities.
When contacted, an official said that out of three doctors two are on Covid-19 duty. He said Khonmou Health Centre will function properly, once Covid-19 pandemic is over. (KNT)
