Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested two kidnappers and recovered a revolver from their possession.
Police spokesman in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that acting on a complaint lodged on 14.08.2020 at Police Station Nowabad by a complainant namely -Sunny Gill, son of Jagdeep Singh of Ludhiana, who was staying at Hotel Ramada and was in Jammu in connection with Real Estate business that on the night of 13.08.2020, the complainant was forcefully kidnapped by Balbir Singh owner of Bawa Tour & travels and his associates at gun point.
“The complainant was kept confined in the house of Balbir Singh at Amar Colony, Camp Gol Gujral Road, Jammu- who threatened him for a payment of Rs.10.00 lacs or of dire consequences. The accused persons extorted a sum of Rs 50,000 from the complainant. On the following day, the complainant fearing threat to his life escaped the place of confinement by jumping from the Ist floor of the building and informed police,” police said.
The police immediately swung into action and a case under FIR number 108/20 under section 347, 364A, 386, 34 IPC, 3, 25 Arms Act was registered at PS Nowabad, he said, adding that a team headed by SHO Nowabad Inspector Deepak Jasrotia and assisted by SI Kali Charan arrested the kidnappers.
They were identified as Balbir Singh, son of Mehar Singh of Amar Colony camp Gole Gujral Road, Jammu and Gurdeep Singh, son of Manjeet Singh of Aman Vihar, Munshi Chak camp Gole Gujral Road, Jammu.
On the disclosure of the accused Balbir Singh, one silver grey coloured Innova with registration numbering JK02BW/3999, one Revolver 0.32 along with 05 live cartridges have been recovered which were used in the commission of offence
Rs 50,000- extorted money and DVR of CCTV installed at the house of accused Balbir Singh was also recovered.
The team headed by SHO Nowabad was working under the close supervision of SDPO Hdqrs. Shwetambri Sharma, SP North and SSP Jammu Shridhar Patil, spokesman said, adding that investigation into the case is in progress, some more arrests are awaited as search of other accused persons is going on—(KNO)
