Shopian : Some BJP activists Thursday staged a protest against district administration Shopian alleging they were not allowed to meet Lieutenant Governor G.C.Marmu.
The claim was refuted by an official saying that some Block Development Chairmen were invited to attend the function but they arrived along with their workers thus violating social distancing norms.
“We informed them that only a few among them will be allowed to interact with the Lieutenant Governor but they left in a huff created ruckus there,” the official told news agency KNT refuting the baseless allegations leveled by BJP Kisan Morcha President Javiad Qadri.
Qadri alleged that they were humiliated and not allowed to attend the function. “Entry passes were issued for us and then at the eleventh hour we were informed that only few among us will be permitted to interact with LG. It was an insult and we didn’t tolerate it,” he said.
Qadri added that BDC Chairmen, Municipal Chairman and other activists were barred and asked to vacate from the spot.
Pertinently, LG Grisheh Chandra Murmu visited South Kashmir’s Shopian district. He visited mini-secretariat Shopian to take stock of the situation and interacted with officials, village level workers, Panchs and Sarpanchs.
Insiders said that some people who claimed to be affiliated with BJP not only misbehaved with security guards but claimed they belong to the largest ruling Hinduvata party BJP and nobody can stop them from entering the venue. (KNT)
