‘Arrested duo include a VDC member’
Jammu : Jammu and Kashmir police have arrested two persons for murdering a man allegedly involved in organizing the marriage of a girl in Reasi district of Jammu.
With this, police claimed to have solved the murder mystery and arrested both the accused who include one Village Defence Committee member.
Police told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that June 22 at around 6:30 PM, police station Arnas received an information that one unidentified body is lying at the bank of Arans river which came floating from somewhere.
“Police party from police station Arnas led by SHO Arnas Rajesh Gautam and SDPO Arnas Dr. Satish Bhardwaj rushed to the spot and completed all legal formalities and kept the unidentified body in district hospital Reasi mortuary and photos of the deceased were circulated on social media to know the whereabouts of the deceased.” police said.
Same day at around 9:30 PM, police said, SDPO Arnas received a call from Ex-sarpanch of Dubri area that body is of Muneer Hussain son of Qadir Bakash resident of Dubri Mahore and on 22 June morning, some person from Chakalwala Thanole were chasing him near Ganjote village of Mahore.
“Police immediately swung into action and arrested all the alleged person in the very mid night.” official statement of police reads.
“On questioning from the suspects, they disclosed that one girl eloped with someone few days back from Chakalwala village and they suspected that Muneer Hussain (victim) has helped her in this,” police said.
“For this reason, Altaf Hussain son of Sakhi Mohammad resident of Chakalwala (cousin of girl who married) and Ramesh Singh resident of Chakalwala Thanol, a VDC member, chased victim Muneer and threw him from a steep mountain,” the police statement said.
“Later they went down the hill and found that victim is still alive after which they dragged him to the bank of Aans river near Ganjote Mahore and crushed his head with stone and also washed all the blood there and later threw his body into the river,” police said—(KNO)
