‘Deceased was a Cancer patient, tested positive for virus, toll climbs to 52 in UT’

Srinagar: The deadly pandemic on Thursday claimed 52nd life in Jammu and Kashmir even as 67 more cases including 26 travellers and a senior doctor tested positive for the virus taking the number of positive cases in the UT to 4574.
A female cancer patient, who had tested positive for the virus, breathed her last at SKIMS, Soura. Dr Farooq Jan, Medical superintendent SKIMS Soura, said that a 62-year-old woman who was admitted to SKIMS on June 7 as a case of acute calculary cholecystitis besides other underlying problems died in the morning.
“Her sample was taken on the same day which came as Covid-19 positive following which patient was shifted to infectious disease ward next day,” he said, adding that lady breathed her last today morning after suffering cardiopulmonary arrest. With the fresh death, the number of COVID deaths in the J&K have reached 52 which include 47 in Kashmir and five in Jammu region.
Officials told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), reveals that among new 67 new cases, 23 were tested positive at SKIMS, 12 at CD hospital, 08 at JVC Bemina and rest at other hospitals.
Among 67 new cases, 43 belong to Kashmir division while as 24 are from Jammu division, officials said, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division has reached to 3565 including 1522 recoveries and 46 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division has reached to 1009 including 298 recoveries and 5 deaths.
The officials said that total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 2702 including 1996 from Kashmir division and 706 from Jammu division.
Cases tested positive in J&K include 2 each from Kulgam and Baramulla, 8 from Srinagar, 13 from Anantnag, 3 from Budgam, 1 from Kupwara, 4 from Bandipora, 9 from Pulwama and one from Ganderbal in Kashmir division while as 24 from Jammu include 11 from Jammu, 3 each from Udhampur and Doda, 6 from Poonch and one from Rajouri.
Dr G H Yatoo Nodal officer for covid-19 at SKIMS said that out of samples that were tested at Virology Lab SKIMS on Thursday, 23 were found positive.
The 23 positive patients include 13 from Anantnag, 04 from Bandipora, three from Kupwara, two from Srinagar and one from Budgam, said officials from SKIMS, adding that positive cases include a senior doctor posted at SKIMS.
Dr Reyaz Untoo, Principal JVC Bemina said that out of 485 samples tested at the hospital, 08 including 07 from Shopian and one from Budgam were found positive.
As per officials figures, 568 positive cases including 08 deaths and 168 recoveries are from Kulgam, 497 including 10 deaths and 162 recoveries are from Baramulla, 497 including 12 deaths and 151 recoveries are from Srinagar, 482 including 315 recoveries and 05 deaths are from Anantnag, 440 including 171 recoveries and 04 deaths are from Shopian, 376 including 246 recoveries and 03 deaths are from Kupwara, 223 including 165 recoveries and 01 death is from Bandipora, 214 including 80 recoveries and 02 deaths are from Budgam, 199 including 32 recoveries and 02 deaths are from Pulwama and 59 including 32 recoveries are from Ganderbal.
In Jammu division, 353 including 107 recoveries and 03 deaths are from Jammu district, 172 including 23 recoveries are from Ramban, 153 including 35 recoveries and 01 death is from Udhampur, 123 including 49 recoveries are from Kathua, 91 including 28 recoveries from Poonch, 69 including and 28 recoveries are from Samba, 58 including 12 recoveries are from Rajouri, 46 including 02 recoveries and 01 death is from Doda, 23 including 10 recoveries are from Reasi and 21 including 04 recoveries are from Kishtwar.
As per the daily information bulletin, 227,016 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while as 41,312 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 2702 persons are in hospital isolation while as 25 persons are under hospital quarantine. According to the bulletin, 127,530 persons have completed surveillance period and 55,395 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 247,267 samples are available.
Out of 247,267 the number of samples tested negative stands at 242,693 while as 4574 have been tested positive, among them 2702 are active and 1820 persons have recovered and 52 persons have died—(KNO)
