SRINAGAR: A Kashmir actress Zaira Wasim won the best supporting actress award in 64th National Film Awards-2107. The jury of the National Film Awards was headed by none other than popular director Priyadarshan. The event was held in National Media Centre, New Delhi.
The talented actress who portrayed the role of young Geeta Phogat in the film charmed the audience with her innocent acting skills. Even Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan praised the young kid by saying that she has enormous potential to make it big in the industry. The young Kashmiri girl became a household name after her gripping performance in the film.
The jury lauded Zaira for her strong portrayal of sportswoman on the big screen. The battle of a female athlete with the Indian society was showcased in the best possible way.
Apart from Zaira Wasim, Sonam Kapoor’s Neerja bagged the Best Film Award. Akshay Kumar also won gold in the form of Best Actor Award for Rustom. Ajay Devgn’s Shivaay won an award for its VFX whereas Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu’s Pink won for putting across a strong social message.
