On way to office, police allegedly beat up Forest official in Bandipora

‘Injured shifted to hospital for treatment’

Bandipora: The Jammu and Kashmir police on Monday morning allegedly thrashed a forest protection officer in Kuloosa locality of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district amid the COVID-19 lockdown across Kashmir.

Eye witnesses told news agency—Kashmir News Observer(KNO), that the incident took place near Kuloosa Bridge after the forest protection officer identified as Fayaz Ahamad Ganie son Abdul Gani Ganie, a resident of Kuloosa was on his way to his office.

They said however two policemen, who were deployed near Kuloosa Bridge naka to implement lockdown stopped him on their way back and questioned him for stepping outside despite lockdown.

They further said that “before forest official could explain him, one of the policemen allegedly began thrashing him as a result, he was taken to district hospital Bandipora for treatment”

An official at district hospital Bandipora said the injured has received bruises on legs and arms and his ear too has been hit badly. He is being treated at the hospital, he said—(KNO)
