Srinagar : After Himachal Pradesh now Kashmiri laborers have been attacked in Assam which has created a fear among Kashmiris stranded in various parts of India.
The attack on Kashmiri laborers took place in Cachar district of Assam on Monday evening.
“We were attacked after breaking our fast. We were preparing dinner when some goons entered our rooms and started beating us,” one of the Kashmiri laborer told news agency KINS.
He said several Kashmiri laborers sustained injuries. “They threatened us to leave the area,” he added.
Later police reached to the spot and took several Kashmiri laborers in their protection.
An official of Assam police said all these Kashmiri laborers are safe. “A case has also been registered and one accused has been arrested,” he added.
Earlier, six laborers from the Chenab Valley were injured when a group of people attacked them with iron rods and sticks at Pundo-Barote in Himachal Pradesh.
These incidents have created a fear among Kashmiris who are stranded in various parts. “These incidents have created a fear among all Kashmiris. Kashmiris fear we might be attacked in various states,” a laborer Uttar Pradesh said.
Similarly, Sameer Ahmad, who is stranded in Punjab said, government should ensure safety of Kashmiri students, laborers and businessmen. “When whole world is fighting against COVID-19, laborers of Jammu and Kashmir are being attacked,” he said.
As per the official details over 30,000 laborers from Jammu and Kashmir are stranded in various parts of India.(KINS)
