Budgam : A vehicle carrying rice bags was seized by police and driver arrested after it came to fore that this government supply was being taken to sell it in black in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
Police sources told KNT that police intercepted a Tata Mobile (JK01M-7019) and found over 20 ration bags that were taken somewhere without any authorization. On questioning, the driver, who hails from Galwanpora Srinagar admitted that the supply was being taken to a place so that it can be sold in black.
Sources added that the supply was loaded near Kawoosa Magam.
A police official while confirming the arrest of the driver and seizure of ration bags told KNT that an FIR vide number 150/2020 under section 409, 120B was registered at police post Soibugh, Budgam.
When contacted Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Assistant Director Iftikar Ahmed under whose jurisdiction the ration bags were seized said that he doesn’t know anything about the incident. (KNT)
