1500 Kashmiris including some families stuck in Goa, demand evacuation

Srinagar : A few families are among nearly 1500 Kashmiris who are stuck in Goa amid the persisting lockdown in wake of deadly Coronavirus outbreak and have appealed the administration to evacuate them to the Valley.

Talking to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Manzoor Ahmad Khan, one of the Kashmir, who are stuck in Goa, said that that many traders as well a few families are stuck there amid the lockdown.

“We had bought tickets to reach Kashmir on March this year. But, due to the suspension of air traffic, they were not able to reach home. We have now got the tickets for May 06, but have less hope to reach home,” Khan said.

He said they are facing immense hardships in Goa at present and want the administration to assist them to reach home. “We appeal the administration back in Jammu and Kashmir to evacuate them to the Valley so that we can heave a sigh of relief,” Khan said.

Khan further stated that they are at least 1500 Kashmiris in Goa at present including some families. “The families back at home are concerned about our wellbeing and want us to reach home,” he said, and appealed the administration headed by lieutenant Governor Girish Chandra Murmu to intervene into the matter –(KNO)
