‘He hurled abuses and tried to manhandle me: Doctor
Srinagar : Authorities at JVC SKIMS Bemina Friday clarified that a Junior doctor in the hospital has not been terminated but relieved.
Pertinently, there were reports that a doctor at JVC SKIMS Bemina was terminated after he refused to use sub standard PPE kits.
Principal JVC SKIMS Bemina, Dr Reyaz Untoo told KNT that the person in question was a junior resident doctor. He was not a permanent employee and was engaged for three months in October 219 initially. The continuation of these engagements depends on their satisfactory work and conduct.
“Dr Asif Ali Bhat (code no JR-1166) Junior Resident in the department of emergency and accident is hereby relieved from this institution today on 20-4-2020, reads the relieving order issued by Principal JVC Riyaz Untoo.”
The Principal added that he was neither a permanent employee nor on any contract. “He was on a tenure period. “He had misbehaved with a senior doctor who is in charge Stores on the pretext of PPE kits which are perfect and in use since last 3 weeks as in other institutions. The doctor in writing had complained that necessary action be initiated against junior resident doctor who abused and manhandled him and was saved by other staff in the store. This is unbecoming of a doctor.”
He added that there is a proper procedure laid down by Government to take up grievances with higher ups.
Doctor who is in charge Stores namely Imtiyaz Ahmed said that the doctor who has been relieved abused him and tried to manhandle him but fortunately, his colleagues saved him. “I was shocked over the behavior of the said doctor. “If he had any grievance, he should have brought it into the notice of higher up but what he did was disgusting. He hurled a chair on me and abused me repeatedly. I brought the matter into the notice of the Principal,” Dr Imtiyaz told KNT.
