Kupwara : Army provided monetary help to those families who lost their members in recent cross border shelling at Tamuna area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
Defense sources told Kashmir News Trust that Indian Army Chief General MM Naravane who visited Kupwara yesterday distributed cash among the families of the victims.
Three civilians including a child and woman were killed while residential houses were damaged in massive cross border shelling in Kupwara area along Line of Control.
Sources added that at Zangli Army Campl, Chief Of Army Staff General M M Naravane and General Officer Commanding 28 Mountain Division Major General ADS Aujala provided financial assistance of Rs one lakh each to families of those who lost their lives at Tumina and Reddi Chowkibal during cross border shelling on April 12.
The families received cash through Commanding Officer 14 Sikhli Regiment.
Sources told KNT that those who received cash assistance of Rs one lakh each were Bashir Ahmad Kataria, father of deceased Zeeshan Bashir of Tumana village, Gulam Muhammad Hajam, husband of deceased Shameema Begum, of Reddi, Chowkibal and Firdous Ahmad Khan, brother of deceased Javed Ahmed Khan of Reddi-Chowkibal.
