One more cured in Leh, active cases reduce to four

Srinagar : Ladakh Union Territory has taken a lead in Covid testing across India and stands on top of all the States and UTs. As Ladakh has less population compared to J&K UT and that rankings are given as per the tests conducted per million population, around 850 samples from Leh and Kargil districts of Union Territory.
Officials told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that total population in Ladakh is around three lakh and so far over 450 samples have been collected in Leh district while as around 400 samples have been collected in Kargil.
They said so far 18 persons have been tested positive in Union territory while as around 700 samples have been tested negative. Ladakh has made extensive arrangements to fight Covid-19 and has made availability of 42 beds in Leh and 17 in Kargil for positive patients besides that they made arrangements of around 40 and 55 in Leh and Kargil for hospital isolation of symptomatic patients, officials said.
They said that arrangements of 1660 beds for quarantine facility have been made available with 874 beds in Leh and 786 beds in Kargil. Officials added that Ladakh in total has five containment zones with around 13,000 population.
They further added that the Union Territory has adapted multi- pronged strategy for effective implementation of lockdown and to aware people to contain the Covid-19 and bring down positive cases.
Pertinently, officials in Ladakh on Thursday told KNO that one more positive case has been cured in Leh district bringing down the total number of active cases in Ladakh Union territory to four including 3 in Leh and 1 in Kargil.
Commissioner Secretary Health and Spokesman of Ladakh UT government Rigzin Samphel tweeted: “One positive case cured in #leh. Total active cases in Ladakh is 4 ( Leh 3, Kargil 1).”—(KNO)
