Srinagar : The government here Friday said that it has traced all those people who arrived in Kashmir both from abroad and other states and that several of them have been kept under quarantine in government accommodations.
“Since March first till the flights were suspended, we have traced all travelers, who arrived in Kashmir both from abroad and domestic travel, “one of the top government official insisted not to be named told KINS.
The official further said that most of them have been put in quarantine centers and others were under home surveillance.
Earlier, the Srinagar district administration started a website and an online application ‘Talash’ to trace people who had travel history outside. It helped people either to register voluntarily or helped others to inform the authorities who were hiding their travel history.
The government has announced strict action for those hiding their travel history as the government fears that they can be potential carriers of Covid-19 virus and prefers to put them in isolation.
As per the government records the highest number of people have arrived in Srinagar which is over 4,000 and in Pulwama district more than 3,000 persons have come from outside.
The third highest numbers of nearly 2,000 persons have arrived in Kupwara district and Bandipora each.
Many villages in Bandipora district, Pulwama and Srinagar have been declared as red-zones where positive cases for Covid-19 have been detected.(KINS)
