Srinagar : Putting them in further distress, authorities have failed to make proper arrangements in Hospitals where coronavirus patients and suspected ones are admitted.
There are around 120 suspected coronavirus people quarantined at CD and JLNM hospital of Srinagar.
However, there are no proper arrangements put in place for these people.
“We are being treated as cattle. There are no arrangements for us,” one of the persons quarantined at a Hospital here told Kashmir Indepth News Service over phone.
“We are being provided unhygienic food. We are in total distress. Please help us.. We are being treated as cattle,” the patient said, who wished not to be named.
He said people who are quarantined are sharing same washroom. “There are no separate towels. There are only few sanitizer bottles for all patients. We are not even given masks. We are at risk of getting infection. If anyone is coronavirus positive case, there are chances that others might also have got infected as they are lodged in same room. There is no hot water,” the patient said.
Another patient said they are being treated as criminals. “Even relatives of coronavirus patients are forced to take medicines inside isolation wards on own,” he added.
The scene is same at JLNM Hospital where two coronavirus positive and 30 suspected cases are admitted.
“We did nothing wrong. We only came in contact with a coronavirus patient that is why we have been quarantined. But there are no arrangements. Our lives have been made hell. There is no water and medicines available. Everyone wants to stay away from us. Please help us for God’s sake,” one of the patients quarantined at JLNM Hospital said.
He said they created uproar on Saturday morning as there were no arrangements for them.
A senior government official said they were trying to provide basic facilities for patients. “Things can’t improve overnight. You know our health sector. Still we want to ensure that patients face minimum inconveniences,” the official added.
