SRINAGAR : Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Pandurang Kondbarao Pole said that two people who were tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday had hid their travel history.
Two people from Srinagar’s Natipora and Hyderpora were tested positive for coronavirus on Tuesday, taking the number of coronavirus cases to three in Kashmir. They had arrived from Saudi Arabia and New Delhi recently.
Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Pandurang Kondbarao Pole said both the people had returned from foreign journey. “They had hid their foreign journey from us,” Pandurang told Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS). “We have traced people to whom these two have been in close contact and kept them under isolation. 300 meter radius surrounding in their areas have been isolated,” he said.
Divisional Commissioner Kashmir said authorities were making proper screening at the Srinagar Airport. “Some people are hiding their travel history in self-declaration. We are also checking whether these had shown their travel history,” he said.
He also ruled out any breach of screening at the Srinagar Airport.
“We can’t risk the lives of people. But sometimes coronavirus symptoms are shown after some days,” he said.
He said district administrations have taken action against several people who had hid their travel history.
According to reports, one of the coronavirus positive cases is a resident of Natipora Srinagar and had returned from Saudi Arabia on March 16 in the same flight which was boarded by the 67-year-old woman who tested positive on March 18.
The Natipora resident is 57-year-old and had reported to the CD hospital only a couple of days back.
The other person is a resident of Hyderpora Srinagar, who had returned from New Delhi recently after being part of a ‘Tablighi Jamaat’ attended by people from Indonesia and Malaysia. The duo was yesterday moved to separate isolation facility at CD hospital Srinagar.(KINS)
