Poonch: Police on Saturday filed an FIR in connection with the large gathering at a farewell party to an outgoing SHO in Mendhar area of Poonch district.

Sub-Divisional Magistrate Dr. Sahil Jandiyal told GNS that on the instructions of District Magistrate Poonch Rahul Yadav, the concerned police have been directed to file a case.

Accordingly, a case under FIR No 47/2020 under section 188 IPC (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) was registered against the violators who despite of repeated orders assembled at one place, SDM said, adding that further investigations have been taken up.

Meanwhile, SDM advised the general public to strictly follow the orders of the district magistrate and not organize any party, farewell, etc which attracts huge gatherings.

“Those who did not follow the order will be strictly dealt with under the law,” SDM said.

The action followed after GNS carried the story that a large number of people at Mendhar attended the farewell party to an outgoing SHO, notwithstanding the government’s directives against large assemblies to contain the spread of coronavirus.

Besides people, policemen and officers turned up at the farewell function of SHO Mendhar Tahir Yousf Khan on his transfer to Jammu region. (GNS)
