Panel to be headed by Justice (retd.) GD Sharma, Munir Khan and Rup Lal Bharati to be members
Srinagar: The government on Thursday constituted a commission for examining the current list of socially and backward classes in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
As per wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), an order issued by Law Secretary Achal Sethi, the 3- member panel would be headed by former High Court Judge, G.D. Sharma. Rup Lal Bharati, former IFS officer and Munir Khan, incumbent IPS officer, would be the members of the commission whose tenure would be 2- years.
Muneer Ahmad Khan is presently serving as ADGP Security/Law and Order and Director SSG. According to its terms of reference, the commission would examine the criteria to be adopted in considering any section of the people in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir for inclusion in socially and economically backward classes.
Using the criteria, the commission would examine the current list of socially and economically backward classes for their inclusion and exclusion in the list, the order further states. The mandate of the panel would also be to examine the overall question of providing reservation for recruitment to posts under the government and or selections to various posts consistent with the need for ensuring the efficiency in administration and minimum standards for job requirements.
