Srinagar : At a time when passengers from Coronavirus hit Ladakh are arriving in Kashmir capital Srinagar, BJP wants no passengers be quarantined in any part of Srinagar city.
BJP Spokesperson Altaf Thakur told Kashmir News Trust that blanket ban on travel be imposed and nobody from Ladakh region should be allowed to land in Kashmir.
He expressed shock over the reports that more busloads of passengers from Ladakh arriving in Srinagar. “There is no need to quarantine them once you bar their entry into Kashmir. Everywhere you are creating isolation wards. This is bizarre. Yesterday, administration allowed a flight from Leh to land in Srinagar and today again you are repeating the same thing. What the administration is up to,” Thakur said.
Altaf Thakur appealed district administration Srinagar to immediately shift those people who had arrived from Ladakh region from Srinagar. “If administration has to quarantine them, then it should select a place that should be beyond the peripheries of Srinagar. Already, a positive case in Srinagar has been reported and it is enough to wake up administration,” he said.
Thakur said that administration has quarantined the people from Ladakh in a Srinagar hotel where situation is panicky and locals are demanding immediate shifting of them.
“I request the administration to shift these people to hospitals where special quarantine facilities have been set up,” Thakur said.
He also called for immediate drive to clean the hotel where these people are lodged since yesterday. (KNT)
