Patient landed at Srinagar Airport 2 days ago tests positive
Srinagar: First case of lethal Coronavirus has been detected in Kashmir Valley. District Development Commissioner Srinagar, Dr Shahid Iqbal Chowdary tweeted that in wake of detection of the first case there will be restrictions on public transport, assembly of people and some other measures, in Srinagar from tomorrow. He further said that steps are being taken in view positive case detected.
Srinagar Municipal Corporation Mayor Junaid Azam Matoo requested all the people from Srinagar city to stay at their homes from tomorrow morning and venture out only when absolutely necessary. He said that those with any flu like symptoms should immediately home quarantine.
Government spokesperson Rohit Kansal tweeted that first positive case in Kashmir has been detected. The victim hails from Khanyar area of Srinagar city. He is having a history of foreign travel. The victim (name withheld) had arrived in Kashmir on 16 March this month.
Rohit Kansal according to KNT appealed to people to cooperate and also immediately self report in case of any symptoms.
A doctor at SKIMS told KNT that the patient is already under observation. He said that the victim landed at Srinagar Airport just two days ago and after screening was straightway shifted to SKIMS. He said that the victim had got infected outside country and there is no need to panic. “This patient has been at Isolation ward in SKIMS for just two days,” he added. (KNT)
