Srinagar sector of CRPF Celebrated the “Rashtriya Ekta Divas” in a grand manner according to established traditions and customs of the force on 31/10/19.

​​On the occasion “Run for unity” events were organize at two places in Srinagar. The first run started from SKICC (Centure Hotel) to CRPF Srinagar Sector head Quarter, Which was flagged off by Sh. RavideepSingh Sahi, IG Srinagar Sector, at 0800 hrs. The anotherRun for Unity event at RTC Srinagar was flagged off by Sh. Jasbir Singh Sandhu, DIG/Principal RTC CRPF Srinagar. Officers, men and family members participated in the run with Enthusiasm.

​​Later a pledge taking ceremony was also organized in which the present CRPF officers and men took oath to maintain national unity and integrity of the country. The oath was administered by Sh. RavideepSingh Sahi IG CRPF. A Grand Parade was also organized to mark the occasion at RTC CRPF Srinagar.

​​On the occasion Shri Ravideep Singh Sahi IG CRPF highlighted the importance of the RashtriyaEKta Divas and contribution of Sardar VallabhbhaiPatel towards the Country and this Force. This day is observed on the birth anniversary of Sardar VallabhbhaiPatel who had played pivotal role in unifying the country. Observance of the day provides an opportunity of reaffirm inherent strength and resilience to withstand actuarial and potential threats to unity, integrity and security of our country. Sardar Vallabbhai Patel was born on 31 Oct, 1875 at Karamsand, Gujarat. He is known as Iron Man of India and Bismarck of India. He played a major role in organizing peasant’s movements on Gandhian principles in Bardoli and Kheda in Gujarat as well as during the Quit India movement. His biggest contribution to India was his role in the integration of the over 500 princely states with India during 1947-49. He is also remembered as Patron Saint of India’s civil servants for establishing modern All-India services. Sardar Patel was posthumously conferred with Bharat Ratna, India’s highest Civilian honour, in 1991.

​​Sardar Vallabhbhi Patel is considered as founding architect of the CRPF. It was SardarVallabhbhai Patel, the then Deputy Prime Minister and the Home Minister of India who had envisioned of re-christening this Crown Representative Force as Central Reserve Police Force. Sardar Patel introduced the Central Reserve Police Bill in the Parliament and the CRPF as an Armed Force of the Union came into existence in 1949. The Force was presented the colouron behalf of the President of India on March 19, 1950 by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
