He was part of militant groups involved in executing attacks on forces, says police
Sopore : Jammu and Kashmir police on Saturday claimed to have arrested one local militant of Lashkar-e-Toiba outfit in Shalimar Colony of Sopore in north Kashmir’ Baramulla district. The arrested militant had joined militancy only a month ago.
According to wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a top official said that with assistance of Army’s 22RR, 179BN CRPF and SOG laid a joint naka at Shalimar Colony on Saturday morning and arrested one person from the spot. “During a naka laid by joint teams of government forces, Danish Tariq Channa son of Tariq Ahmad Channa a resident old town Baramulla was arrested. He is an active member of Lashkar-e-Toiba,” he said. “We have recovered one pistol along with two grenades and seven rounds were recovered from his possession.” Sources said that Danish had joined militancy a month ago only.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Danish has been an active conduit of proscribed Pakistani militant outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba operating in Sopore and Baramulla areas with northern Kashmir commander Sajad Ahmad Dar alias Haider,” he said.
In this regard, a case has been registered 272/2019 under relevant sections of law 07/25 in Police Station Sopore and Baramulla and further investigation is going on. According to police statement he was hard core stone pelter involved in cases FIR number 86/2011 under section 307, 147, 148,149,336, 437 RPC of police station Baramulla and its chalan stands produced against him on 29/11/2011. He was the part of militant groups involved in “planning and executing militancy” related attacks in the area. (KNO)
