‘Detention of women protesters undemocratic’
Srinagar: The National Conference members strongly condemned the detention of sister and daughter of National Conference Party President Dr. Farooq Abdullah, calling the move as “unprecedented and undemocratic.”
The NC leaders in a joint statement, issued from Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavansaid, “Being kin of former chief ministers should not entail any political victimization, leading to curtailment of liberty and freedom of movement and speech”
According to wire service— Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the party leaders castigated the state administration for the ongoing detention of its party leaders and prevailing uncertainty in the valley. The detention of SurayaMattoo and Safiya Abdullah Khan, sister and daughter of Dr. Farooq Abdullah and the aunt and sister of Omar Abdullah, depicts the desperate situation of the state administration which failed miserably in restoring normalcy in the region for over 72 days.
