Pakistan Army involved in Kashmir militancy: GOC

Srinagar : Chinar Corps Commander Lieutent General K J S Dhillon Friday said the kind of weapons recovered from hide-outs and encounter sites clearly indicate that Pakistan Army directly involved in militancy in Kashmir. He said the role of Pakistan Army has clearly been established and their involvement in Kashmir militancy can’t be tolerated.

Dhillon along with State Police Chief Dilbagh Singh were addressing a press conference here at Army Headquarters Badami Bagh. He said they have recovered a Pakistan Army landmine from one of the caches of militants. An M-24 American sniper rifle with a telescope was also recovered from a militant cache. “All this shows that Pakistan Army has a role in militancy in Kashmir,” he said and added that the kind of IEDs they are examining and the IED Expert militants they are capturing and eliminating point to the fact that Pakistan is trying to disrupt peace in Kashmir. “No one will be allowed to disrupt peace in Kashmir Valley,” he said.

The Army Commander while throwing light on the cross border skirmishes, Chinar Corps Commander Lieutent General K J S Dhillon said that situation on Line of Control is under control while every effort is being made to thwart infiltration bids successfully. He said the life span of every militant is one year. “Most of the youth who picked up weapons are stone pelters.

Records reveal that 83% of those who are militant were stone pelters in past. He said that his appeal to mothers, if they see their son pelting stones at security forces, chances are they will follow the path of militancy.

Jammu & Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh said that the overall number of active militants in the Valley and in the Jammu region has come down. (KNT)
