Two boys drown in Jhelum in Sumbal, one rescued another still missing; Rescue operation on

Bandipora: A boy drowned while another was saved by the locals after they slipped into river Jehlum in Shilwat area of Sumbal in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Wednesday.

Eye witnesses told KNO that two boys drowned in river Jhelum after they slipped into river Jehlum.

Following the incident a rescue operation was launched by local volunteers and police to retrieved their bodies. “But only one boy rescued so for,” the locals told KNO.

A senoir police officer told KNO that the two minor boys as identified as Mohammad Kafeel (08) and Mohammad Shafiq (14) both residents of Kalakote Rajouri area of jammu slipped into the river while they were playing on its banks.

“Kafeel was saved by timely intervention of the locals and police while Shafiq is still missing,” the official told KNO. He said the search for another drowned boy is still underway. (KNO)

It is pertinently mention here that this is the fourth such incident in the area earlier last week two boys were also drowned to death while taking bath in same river(KNO)
