Family members of jailed Srinagar man demands his release for last rites of his father

SRINAGAR : Family members of a Srinagar man, who has been in Tahir jail from last 20 years on Saturday demanded release of their son for religious formalities of his dead father who died today morning.

 

Javaid Ahmad Khan son of Mohammad Shafi Khan, a resident of Khankah, Srinagar has been in Tahir since last 20 years. His father Mohammad Shafi Khan died this morning due to illness.

 

The family members sought governor’s intervention in this issue and demanded release of their lone son Javaid. Family members of Javaid while appealing the authorities to release their son said that Javaid’s father died this morning and without him, they can’t do the burial of their family member and perform religious formalities.

 

“I request authorities to release Javaid so that he can perform the religious formalities of his father who died today morning. Years have passed since he has seen his father, I request governor to look into this issue and help us in Javaid’s release.” a family member of Javaid told PTK.

 

A relative of Javaid said, “he has been in Tihar Jail, Delhi from last twenty years and we haven’t met him. His release will be a human act and I request governor administration to release him. Without him, the last rites of his father are incomplete.”

 

Javaid Ahmad who had been arrested in late 1990’s is currently in Tihar jail. (PTK)
