SRINAGAR: Nearly 11,500 pilgrims from Jammu and Kashmir’s Srinagar would perform Hajj this year and the first batch which is carrying nearly 304 passengers has left for Saudi Arabia today.
The annual pilgrimage of Hajj begins today and 304 passengers left from Hajj House in Srinagar to board a flight to Jeddah from the Srinagar Airport.
Chief Executive Officer HAJ Committee Srinagar, said, As many as 11,500 pilgrims will perform Hajj this year, for which the first batch will depart from Srinagar airport to the holy city of Jeddah in Saudi Arabia.
Different arrangements have been made this time, with special arrangements being made for people and high-end vehicles being hired for convenient traveling.
Even the pilgrims traveling to Hajj seem to be satisfied with the arrangements made. We are very pleased with the arrangements made. The helpers are helping us. There are separate provisions for women; I pray to Allah that all of us have a safe and successful trip, one of the pilgrims said.
Hajj flights will fly from Srinagar to Saudi Arabia till July 29 when the last Hajj flight is scheduled to leave. All Hajj flights will land at Madina airport till July 20 and thereafter flights from Srinagar will land at the Mecca airport till July 29.
Arrangements for ablutions and foreign exchange have been made for them at the Srinagar airport.
J&K Governor Satya Pal Malik flagged off the first flight of Hajj pilgrims from Srinagar airport, carrying 354 devotees to the holy city of Madina.
The Governor interacted with a number of pilgrims and wished them a safe journey and a highly satisfying Hajj.
According to Islam, its compulsory that Muslims must travel to Hajj at least once during their lifetime. (PTK)
