Young Numbardar dies due electric shock in Budgam

SRINAGAR: A young village Numbardar died in Beerwah area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Tuesday due to electrocution while repairing an electricity transformer his area.

As per reports that poured in here, Shabir Ahmad son of Ghulam Ahamd Malik a resident of Mochan village of Beerwah in central Kashmir’s Budgam district was repairing an electric transformer in his area during which he received an electric shock due to which Shabir suffered critical injuries and was rushed to Sub-District hospital Beerwah where doctors where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Locals of the area alleged that PDD officials are responsible for his death as they didn’t turn up to repair the transformer and locals were forced to do it at their own. “We made multiple pleas to PDD officials for repairing the transformer but they didn’t turn up. We were forced to do it at our own as no one paid heed to our pleas.” a local said.

While blaming PDD officials for Shabir’s death, a local said, “Shabir had informed the PDD unit before going to repair the transformer after which power supply of the area was turned off. When Shabir was continuing his work to repair transformer, suddenly power supply was restored and he received an electric shock.

Locals further said that in  last six months, it’s sixth death in Beerwah and it’s adjoining areas that occurred due to negligence by officials of concerned departments. The locals demanded action against the officials for not performing their duties properly.

Earlier on Sunday, a boy Sajad Hussain Wani son of Ali Mohd Wani died when he was carrying heap of grass on his shoulders and he suddenly came in contact with a High Tension (HT) line which according to locals is placed at a very low height through the paddy fields of Paris Abad, nearly 3 kilometers distance from main town Budgam.
