SRINAGAR: Clashes erupted between protesters and government forces in Awantipora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Sunday after the killing of two militants in a brief shootout.
Witnesses said that police and paramilitary forces resorted to teargas shells to disperse people who had gathered to demand the bodies of two slain militants near the Awantipora police station.
The protesters retaliated by throwing stones, triggering clashes. Meanwhile, the bodies were handed over to the next of the kin of the slain militants.
