Baramulla: Protests erupted at Sopernaghama (Qaziabad) Chowk of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Sunday after army men allegedly thrashed a shopkeeper and a driver.

Locals alleged that army men thrashed the duo without any provocation.

Soon after the incident, people assembled at the spot and began a protest against the army.

All shops were shut in the area and vehicular movement came to a standstill on the Baramulla – Kupwara highway.

Angry protesters were seeking immediate action against the “erring” army personnel.
