Video : Shab e Qadr observed with religious fervor, Muslims across Kashmir

SRINAGAR: Shab-e-Qadar, the night of power, was observed across Kashmir valley with Jamia Masjid here witnessing the largest congregation of devotees.

Muslims thronged mosques and shrines across the valley for night-long prayers and recitation of the Holy Quran.

Jamia Masjid in Nowhatta area of the city witnessed the largest congregation in Kashmir last night while large gatherings were also witnessed at Hazratbal, Dast-e-geer Sahib Shrine and Sayed Yaqoob Shah Shrine.

The night is observed on every 27th day of Ramadan. Notably, this is one of the holiest and most blessed nights for Muslims, which is likely to occur on one of the odd nights in the last 10 days of Ramadan and most likely to be the 27th of the Holy month.

The Muslim Holy book, Quran, was revealed to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in this night. The night has special significance as it is better than one thousand years and the angels descend therein by the permission of Allah Almighty.

Special arrangements were made for special prayers in Masjids and the shrines across the Valley to mark the holy night and seek divine blessings.

Devotees have started thronging to the shrines especially Dargah Hazratbal where a huge congregational nightlong prayers were held.

The biggest congregational prayers were held at the historical Jamia Masjid Srinagar. The devotees attended religious gatherings to seek forgiveness from Allah Almighty and his blessings.

Ulemas and Islamic clerics highlighted the teachings of Islam and various aspects of the life of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). Muslims traditionally observe the occasion through nightlong special prayers, Quran Khwani, religious discussions at mosques and in their houses on this holy night.

Devotees also visit graveyards to seek eternal blessings for the departed souls of their near and dear ones. (PTK)
