Sayan Chatterjee,
New Delhi : We all know complex stimuli (such as colors, structures, language, emotions) are processed in our brains through our senses (sight, smell, taste, touch and hearing).
Be it is a kid or a grown up human being we all place a picture of what is around us in our minds through the use of stigmatization and our memories store all of this in the short term. If one needs to make it a permanent fixture, and give it a resting place, we all need to find a way to move it from short to long-term memory. And, often this phenomenon is perceived as an art of memorization or the art of memory training.
Addressing a concern to it, on May 8th, 2019 a well-being seminar on “The Art of Memorising” was conducted under the aegis of AFWWA (Regional) Western Air Command for all the air-force wives and children of Subroto Park, Palam, Basant Nagar, Arjangarh and Faridabad.
The seminar was moderated and conveyed by the well known memory trainer and author Krishan Chahal. The seminar was conducted in two sessions of one hour each instead of one, as planned before.
The said seminar was inaugurated by Mrs Luxmi Nambiar President AFWWA (Regional) Western Air Command. Air Marshal R Nambiar PVSM AVSM VM & Bar ADC, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief Western Air Command and many senior officers’ of Western Air Command were also there to attend the workshop with their family.
Whilst speaking about the seminar, _Mrs Luxmi Nambiar President_ AFWWA (Regional) Western Air Command, said, “We are committed to conduct more such sessions for the benefit of our children. The art of memorization is a learned skill. Some are able to do it easier than others, but it does take practice, determination and focus. Memorizing skills are an art, acquired with the desire to improve one’s ability to recall the information they want to keep and need.”
The art of memorization is often referred to as mnemonics, a method of recalling difficult to remember information. The principle behind mnemonics is to make use of as much of your brain as possible to setting up a code to process the information.
