SRINAGAR :National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) exams 2019 will be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on May 5, 2019 to admit students in MBBS and BDS courses in Indian Medical or Dental Colleges run with the approval of Medical Council of India or Dental Council of India under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India except for the institutions established through an Act of Parliament.
From Kashmir Valley, as many as 9,250 aspirants are going to take part in the NEET exam, for the NTA has allotted four additional centres in the region, official said on Thursday.
As of now, the centres can accommodate 5,750 aspirants in the valley, however, 3, 500 aspirants are still remaining and demanding additional centres in the valley or else they would have to travel outside the valley.
“Four additional centres allotted now will accommodate the remaining 3,500 aspirants so that none of this year’s NEET aspirants from the Valley have to travel outside to take the test”, an official said here.
The four additional centres that are set up in the Kashmir valley are Kashmir University, Gandhi Memorial College, Green Valley School, Kashmir Harvard School.
The NTA officials have informed the aspirants on Thursday via SMS about centre allotments. Following the demand for setting up of additional NEET centres in the Valley, two advisors of the Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik — Khurshid Ahmad Ganai and K.K. Sharma — had taken up the matter with the Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry. (PTK)
