Kishtwar : A day after the killing of RSS leader and his security guard, police arrested over a dozen suspects including some medical employees in Kishtwar district of Jammu region.
RSS leader Chandrakant Sharma was killed inside the premises of District Hospital Kishtwar where he was working as a medical assistant at hospital’s out-patient (OPD) department. His PSO Rajinder Kumar was also killed while his service rifle was decamped by the gunmen.
Sources said that shortly after the killings police registered an FIR vide number 67/19 under section 302, 307, 192 RPC, 7/25 IA Act, 13/16/20/23 ULA Act and swung into action and arrested over a dozen suspects, some among them are medical employees. A police official said that over a dozen people have been called to police station for questioning. “We haven’t detained them but they are only being questioned,” he added.
He further said that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted to probe these killings which would be headed by DSP Headquarter Kishtwar Aijaz Ahmad Sheikh.
Reports said that amid curfew agitated protesters ransacked the office of SSP Kishtwar. They protesters demanded the transfer of SSP and DC from the district. Reports added that violent mob also damaged drone cameras of Army.
Meanwhile, the army carried out a fresh flag march in several parts of the district amid curfew for the second day. The Internet also remained suspended for the second consecutive day in Kishtwar and Bhaderwah areas. (CNS)
