Present time last opportunity to save JK’s Muslim majority character, its special status’
Srinagar: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday urged people to unanimously defeat the BJP’s game plan in Jammu and Kashmir which is to keep the Kashmir pot boiling so that it can consolidate Hindu votes on the blood of Kashmiris and win elections.
Interacting with party supporters, workers and activists in Central Kashmir’s Beerwah constituency, senior PDP leader and former minister Naeem Akhtar said victory of PDP’s candidate for Srinagar parliamentary seat, Agha Syed Mohsin will be a defeat of the divide and rule policy of BJP.
Flanked by senior party leaders including Nazir Ahmad Khan, Akhtar said that the BJP RSS Ideologue Subramanium Swami in one of his interviews has in open expressed that BJP’s strategy is to unite Hindus and divide Muslims so that it could again come to power. Akhtar said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir have to answer to Swami’s such assertions and reveal it to him that they will not fall into the trap of dividing residents of Jammu and Kashmir into Paharis, Gujjar Bakerwal, Shia, Sunni and Barelvis. “We will not fall into that and we will defeat such plans. This design has been rolled up to further BJP’s own agenda in Jammu and Kashmir to deprive us of our special status. It is aimed to change the demographic map of Jammu and Kashmir. The BJP wants to keep the Kashmir pot boiling so that it can consolidate Hindu votes on the blood of Kashmiris and win elections,” said Akhtar.
Terming present time as a defining movement for the future discourse of history, Akhtar said that such a phase was last time witnessed during the polls of 2014 but unfortunately people decided for a fractured mandate then. “Today again the opportunity is knocking at our door which might perhaps be the last opportunity. We must rise above these considerations and vote for such candidates who would defeat BJP designs and who would stand by as Mehbooba Mufti stood by her commitment to repealing AFSPA, safeguarding Article 35-A, punishing culprits of Rasana, making the central government declare unilateral ceasefire and withdrawing more than 12 thousand FIRs of youth,” said Akhtar.
The PDP leader added that the ample proof of how Mehbooba Mufti stood firm in her resolve of not to allow BJP to implement its nefarious agenda in Jammu and Kashmir is the recent statement of Amit Shah. Akhtar said that Shah now has clearly mentioned that scraping 35-A was among the BJP’s core agendas but the party couldn’t get through due to its alliance with the PDP and Mehbooba Mufti’s stern opposition.
Akhtar said that the PDP government would have continued for six years if Mehbooba Mufti had not strongly defended the interests of the state and its people. He said that Mehbooba strongly resisted the imposition of ban on Jamaate-e-Islami, JKLF and other religious organisations in Jammu and Kashmir and that she didn’t allow BJP to implement its divisive agenda anywhere in the state.
“If she had signed on dotted line like in the case of Afzal Guru, the PDP government wouldn’t have been toppled by the BJP. Since she remained consistently firm on PDP’s agenda which was included in agenda of alliance, the BJP had to run away” Akhtar said and and added that Mehbooba Mufti is the only one leader in Jammu and Kashmir who has emerged as a focal point of democratic resistance to BJP’s game plan .
Akhtar urged people to overwhelmingly vote for PDP candidate Aga Syed Mohsin during the coming parliament polls as victory of Aga Mohsin will be defeat of BJP RSS Designs.
