Srinagar: A Gun battle between militants and goverment forces started in Lassipora area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Monday morning.
Reports reaching GNS said that a joint team of army’s 44RR, CRPF and SOG launched cordon and search operation in Lassipora after having reliable inputs about the presence of some militants in the area.
As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected, the hiding militants fired upon goverment forces triggering an encounter.
A senior Police officer told GNS that there was some exchange of firing between militants and goverment forces, however right now the firing has stopped.
The officer further said that cordon is intact in the area to trace out the hiding militants
As per the sources two to three militants are believed to be trapped.(GNS)
