Abdul Haq announces two roads for Kupwara villages

Jammu: Minister for Rural Development Panchayati Raj, Law and Justice Abdul Haq today announced construction of two rural roads besides establishment of two bank branches in Kupwra district.

The Minister was addressing local delegations during an extensive tour of Kupwara district. On the Public demand, Minister directed construction of Chopan Mohallah-Darpora road and Gundmancher to Darpora road that will benefit about twenty thousand souls. During Public interaction, the locals had apprised minister about the need of these roads in the village. He directed officials to start work immediately on the roads

At Tikipora area of Lolab valley, the minister also assured establishment of a JK Bank Branch in Tikipora and Darpora villages on public demand. He said the branches will be established soon as it has been a long pending demand of the public.

Locals also complained about the poor infrastructure of electricity transmission owing to which they had to face problems of frequent power cuts in bad weather. Abdul Haq allotted 50 electricity poles to the village.

The minister also donated an ambulance to the New Type Primary Health Centre (NTPHC) and also directed for erly completion of building besides construction of fencing around the NTPHC building.

AT Lalpora minister inaugurated the Medical Officers’ Residential Quarter constructed at the cost of Rs 30 lakh.

Minister was accompanied by DC Kupwara, Sp Kupwara and other senior officials of the district administration.

Speaking on the occasion Minister said the government is alive to the public demands and necessary measures are already afoot to upgrade basic amenities and ensure prompt public service delivery. He said wherever necessary additional focus would be laid to address the people’s demands on priority.

Abdul Haq said the department has set on a journey to bridge the socio-economic gap by constructing roads and bridges under MGNREGA which will not only serve the purpose of employment generation but will also create useful assets for the rural population.

He urged the people to act as eyes and ears of the Government by keeping watch on the works taken up by the Government. He said corruption can be checked only if people become part of decision making by participating in Gram Sabhas and keep a close watch on the development projects.

Abdul Haq said he has asked his officers to interact with people regularly and take their demands into consideration before making any developmental plan.
