Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday said she will contest from Anantnag parliamentary constituency in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

Addressing a press conference in Srinagar, Mehbooba said her party won’t field any candidate from Jammu to “strengthen’ the secular vote.

The former chief minister said the decision was taken to prevent division of ‘secular’ votes in the Jammu region.

She also announced that Agha Mohsin would be the party’s candidate for Srinagar parliamentary seat.

The party has already announced Qayoom Wani as their candidate for Baramulla constituency.
