On the night of October 16-17, 2017, three gunmen came to Irfan’s house whose father, Mohammad Ramzan Sheikh, is a political activist in the state. When Irfan heard some noise outside the house, he opened the door and found to his shock that three gunmen were standing in the verandah, armed with rifles and grenades. Sensing trouble, Irfan exhibited the highest degree of courage and got into fisticuffs, jostling and pushing the gunmen, risking his own life, to stop them from entering the house.
In the meantime, Irfan’s father too came out of the house. Seeing him approach, the gunmen pounced on him and a scuffle ensued. After some time, the gunmen resorted to indiscriminate firing, resulting in severe injury to Irfan’s father. One of the gunmen too was hurt in it.
