Amid mounting tension, Pakistan vacates 40 villages

SRINAGAR : Amid mounting tension after a militant attack in Pulwama, Pakistani administration has started shifting people living in villages near international border.

 

According to reports, in view of growing tension and fear of retaliatory action from India the Pakistani administration have moved people to the safer place.

 

Reports said that the three major villages of Pakistan’s Amruchak tehsil —Sukhmal, Sukhechak and Chajar – have been vacated by the Pakistan Rangers.

 

Fear has gripped among villagers who are uncertain about the situation against the backdrop of the killing of 49 CRPF men in the Pulwama suicide attack and relations between the two neighbouring countries have worsened.

 

Reports added that the Same situation is same in Arina sector of Jammu district. As per official survey 457 villages with a population of 4,51,856 are located along the IB and the Line of Control in Kathua, Samba, Jammu, Rajouri and Poonch districts in the Jammu region.

 

Residents of these villages are the worst victims of the Pakistan shelling and firing.

 

Of them, over 1.50 lakh people are living along the 224.5-km-long stretch of the LoC in the Jammu region and the rest live on the International Border. (PTK)
