Srinagar : Amid large scale attacks on Kashmiris, State Human Rights Commission on Tuesday issued a notice to Jammu and Kashmir government, seeking a detailed report regarding the safety of students and other Kashmiris outside the state.
The notice was issued by SHRC chairperson Justice (Rtd ) Bilal Nazki on a complaint filed by International Forum for Justice Human Rights, its chairman said.
The petitioner has pleaded that Kashmiri students namely Faisal Ahmad Parray, Zahid Afzal Wani, Naeem Ahmad Hajam, Mohsin Rather of Bandipora were beaten by the goons.
The petitioner has pleaded that the direction be passed as to what steps have been taken for stopping such incidents in future and what actions has been taken by the government till date against such incidents.
The petitioner also sought to know if any formal FIR has been lodged against the culprits who in day and day out are “harassing the Kashmiri students in the name of nationalism.”
“All the parents whose kith and kin are studying outside the state of J&K are in the dilemma and shock and are now reconsidering their decision to send their wards outside state for the education purposes and training purposes,” the petitioner said, “adding” This is a well-organized conspiracy hatched by the communal forces to restrain the Kashmiri students from obtaining education or other skill development schemes to put them to the stone ages.” (GNS)
